So your premise sounds really awesome! I know that Dr. Dacosta's animation is pretty similar, with animation being motivated by various sound clips. So long as you limit the length (you said around 1:30, which is a great place to shoot for) you should be totally fine.
I really love the idea of different people telling a story and you putting it together as coherently as possible. However, in the interest of time, maybe it'd be easier to write a quick story and then just have different people read each sentence? Then you could have a lot more time to work on character design and the visuals before you have to collect and edit all the audio.
I can understand you not wanting to do that, though; the basic premise of getting a bunch of unique stories and stringing them together is a really cool idea and I can't wait to see what you can do with it.
